He was born on 16 May 1988 into a Punjabi-Brahim well-settled family in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, and grew up there. Vicky Kaushal’s age is 33 years as of 2021.
Since his childhood, he always showed an interest in acting and used to perform in his school dramas, skits, functions & competitions. He did his early schooling at the Sheth Chunilal Damodardas Barfivala High School in Mumbai and got enrolled in the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology in Mumbai for his degree.
Vicky narrates himself in his childhood as a regular kid who had an interest in studies, playing cricket, and watching films. His father, Sham Kaushal, a subsequent action director, wanted Vicky to have a bright future that is why Vicky chooses to pursue his career in electronics and telecommunications.
During his visit to an IT company, he made up his mind of not doing a half-day job sitting in front of a computer. So, he took a job for a short period and started going on to sets with his father which gave a boost to his love for acting.

After his decision to become an actor, he joined Kishore Namit Kapoor Acting Institute based in Mumbai to sharp his acting skills.
Vicky started his career in 2012 by assisting the director Anurag Kashyap with his film Gangs of Wasseypur, before this, he used to play in theatre under Naseeruddin Shah and Manav Kaul.
He got his first role as an actor in the film Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana portraying the role of Young Omi.
With the successful act in Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana, he was offered a lead role by director Vasan Bala in the short film Greek (2013).
In 2015, He did a life changing lead role as Deepak Kumar in the film Masaan which got him lots of fame & recognization in the Bollywood cinema.
